you say that "mxm Workgroups is compatible with Plone 2.x". So it should work with any userfolder like LDAP, MySQL, GRUF, etc. Am I right?

Yes, any Plone compatible user folder

It uses the membership tool for finding members. The membership tool in turn looks up the users in the user folder.

Any userfolder that works with the membership tool should be be ok. If a userfolder isn't compatible with the membership tool it isn't compatible with Plone either.

So any Plone compatible user folder is also compatible with mxmWorkgroups.

Well at least until I hear differently ;-)
